Citrix Platform Engineer - AWS & DevOps w Wrocław, Polska

This is a remote position.

A leading global IT consulting firm is supporting a major enterprise client in a cloud infrastructure and platform engineering programme.

We are looking for an experienced Citrix Platform Engineer on AWS with strong hands-on expertise in Citrix technologies, scripting, automation, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices. The role focuses on engineering, automating and maintaining Citrix-based environments hosted on AWS, with a strong emphasis on end-to-end ownership, production-grade automation, platform stability, scalability, security and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage technical activities from initial requirements analysis and solution design through implementation, testing, production deployment and post-deployment validation.

Your responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain Citrix platform solutions hosted on AWS, ensuring reliability, scalability, security and high availability.
  
• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned technical activities, from requirements analysis and technical design through implementation, testing, production deployment and validation.
  
• Translate business and technical requirements into robust, automated and maintainable platform solutions.
  
• Engineer, optimise and maintain Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.
  
• Manage and optimise persistent and non-persistent VDI environments, including Machine Creation Services (MCS).
  
• Design, build and maintain automated Gold Image lifecycle processes, including image preparation, customisation, versioning, testing, publishing and deployment.
  
• Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts and Citrix PowerShell automation to manage infrastructure, automate administrative tasks and support operational processes.
  
• Implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using HashiCorp Terraform and HCL to enable consistent, repeatable and maintainable infrastructure provisioning.
  
• Use HashiCorp Packer to automate the creation, configuration and maintenance of machine images.
  
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD to automate infrastructure changes, image builds, deployments and validation activities.
  
• Apply Ansible for configuration management, environment standardisation and operational automation.
  
• Integrate platform services and automation workflows with REST APIs.
  
• Identify technical dependencies, risks, prerequisites and implementation constraints before executing platform changes.
  
• Define and execute appropriate testing strategies, including functional, integration, regression and post-deployment validation.
  
• Prepare, coordinate and execute production deployments, upgrades, configuration changes and platform releases.
  
• Automate platform monitoring, troubleshooting, routine maintenance and operational health checks.
  
• Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure, connectivity, performance and application delivery issues across Citrix and AWS environments.
  
• Validate service health and platform stability following implementation and resolve post-deployment issues.
  
• Implement and maintain operational standards, security controls, access management and platform best practices.
  
• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security and application teams to deliver reliable, automated and production-ready platform services.
  
• Document technical designs, automation workflows, infrastructure configurations, deployment procedures, testing results and operational runbooks.
  

Requirements

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant IT experience, with strong hands-on expertise in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, virtualisation or a related technical domain.
  
• Proven experience engineering and administering Citrix platforms, preferably Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in AWS-hosted environments.
  
• Strong knowledge of Citrix architecture, VDI delivery models, persistent and non-persistent desktops, and Machine Creation Services (MCS).
  
• Practical experience managing Citrix image lifecycles, Gold Images, image updates, publishing and deployment automation.
  
• Advanced PowerShell scripting and Citrix PowerShell development skills, with the ability to build reliable, reusable and maintainable automation solutions.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with HashiCorp Terraform and HCL, including the development and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code.
  
• Practical experience with HashiCorp Packer for automated image creation and lifecycle management.
  
• Experience developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning, configuration changes, image automation and deployments.
  
• Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation.
  
• Experience integrating REST APIs into scripts, automation workflows and platform management processes.
  
• Proven ability to independently analyse requirements, design technical solutions, identify dependencies and risks, and deliver changes end to end.
  
• Experience with production deployments, release management, testing, rollback planning and post-deployment validation.
  
• Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, virtualisation, networking, identity, connectivity and application delivery.
  
• Ability to develop production-grade automation that is reliable, repeatable, secure and maintainable, rather than relying on manual operational procedures.
  
• Experience working with version control, code reviews, configuration management and automation best practices.
  
• Strong documentation, communication and collaboration skills.
  
• Ability to provide concrete examples of technical solutions personally designed, automated, deployed and supported in production environments.

• AWS certifications or relevant cloud engineering qualifications.

• Experience with AWS infrastructure services, networking, security and identity management.
  
• Experience with AWS-native Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation.
