Manage the complete FOB sea freight process from booking confirmation through to TMS closure after final delivery;
Coordinate FCL and LCL bookings with nominated sea freight forwarders; issue and confirm transport orders via our TMS;
Continuously track containers from ports of loading (primarily China and India) to destination; monitor ETDs and ETAs and intervene proactively when delays arise;
Trigger Goods-in-Transit (GIT) bookings when goods are confirmed loaded on vessel;
Oversee customs documentation (Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, packing list, ISF, VGM); verify completeness against defined deadlines and escalate gaps;
Proactively manage detention and demurrage risk: monitor container returns, communicate with forwarders and plants, flag exceptions early;
Coordinate port-to-door onward transport after arrival at European ports;
Handle exceptions including LCL consolidations, rail freight alternatives (Far East), and air freight escalations as last resort;
Maintain sea freight KPIs and contribute to regular carrier performance reviews;
Participate in sea freight carrier onboarding: define documentation requirements and communication standards.
Our requirements
3+ years of hands-on ocean freight experience - FCL and LCL booking, Bill of Lading handling, container tracking;
Fluent English - all forwarder and overseas communication is conducted in English;
Solid understanding of FOB Incoterms and the operational responsibilities they create for the logistics provider;
Practical customs documentation knowledge: what is required, when, and how to manage delays;
Proactive approach to detention and demurrage - you manage risks before they become costs;
Ability to work independently and make decisions under time pressure;
Hands-on experience with a TMS - essential for day-to-day operations.
