Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Specialist performs construction engineering and digital delivery assignments requiring knowledge of civil earthworks construction practices, VDC workflows, and the ability to work with broad guidance from project leadership. The role supports construction teams by developing, reviewing, and communicating earthworks methodologies, grading strategies, haul routes, and construction sequencing through practical 3D/4D visualizations using Civil 3D, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or equivalent tools. The position supports constructability reviews, identifies interfaces and potential conflicts, develops field-focused visualizations, and assists with planning and coordination activities. The Master BIM model, developed by others, serves as a reference and coordination tool for creating construction-focused visualizations and resolving interface issues. The role requires the ability to work independently with Bechtel teams, contractors, and stakeholders, interpret design drawings and specifications, and proactively identify discipline conflicts, construction constraints, and practical solutions to support safe and efficient project execution.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist construction teams with 3D visualization of construction methodologies, temporary works, excavation sequencing, and critical interfaces for support of excavation and bulk excavation works.
• Interpret design engineering drawings and specifications, review contractor compliance with issued construction drawings, and escalate engineering or construction issues to the Senior Construction Engineer or Construction Manager.
• Prepare and review field sketches, construction revisions, as-built information, and practical visualization outputs required to support planning, coordination, and field execution.
• Review design drawings, vendor information, and installation requirements to identify interference issues, constructability constraints, and discipline interfaces before they affect site progress.
• Produce indicative quantities and material take-offs for planning, sequencing, and construction coordination purposes.
• Review and track field change notices, extra work orders, and related construction changes that affect visualization, sequencing, or interface coordination.
• Attend daily and weekly coordination or progress meetings with contractors and stakeholders where visualization, BIM reference information, constructability, or interface issues require input.
• Review method statements and safety submittals to support the development and implementation of safe systems of work.
• Assist construction teams with interface management, stakeholder coordination, and resolution of field constraints affecting excavation and temporary works activities.
• Monitor site activities to confirm conformance with drawings, specifications, approved methodologies, and project quality expectations.
• Promote a zero-accident culture by participating in client and project health and safety programs and supporting regular site safety reviews.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Working knowledge of support of excavation, bulk excavation methodologies, temporary works, constructability review, and coordination on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in standard office applications and relevant 2D and 3D design or visualization tools, including Civil3D/AutoCAD and Trimble SketchUp or equivalent 3D and 4D software.
• Awareness of local regulatory requirements, project compliance standards, and client health, safety, quality, and environmental expectations.
• Familiarity with current industry quality standards and the ability to apply them in field engineering and construction coordination activities. Experience preparing reports, reviewing contractor KPIs, and validating operational data.
